Maintenance of Accreditation by
Practice Pathway (MAPP©) Overview
Maintenance of Accreditation by practice pathway (MAPP©), is one of the optional pathways for American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME) board recertification process for assessment of continuing competencies of ABIME certified doctors instead of examination.
ACIME’s objective is to guide American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME) diplomates in completing the components of Maintenance of Certification (MOC). We offer multiple educational opportunities to help you successfully maintain continuous certification.
The completion of American College of Independent Medical Examiners (ACIME) Practice Pathway program every 5 years as described below satisfies the ABIME MAPP© requirements for recertification.
The Four Parts of MAPP
PART 1: PROFESSIONALISM AND PROFESSIONAL STANDING
Hold an active, valid and unrestricted medical license in any US states, US territories, Canadian Provinces or any jurisdiction in the world by relevant and authorized health professional licensing/registering governmental authority in which you are licensed or authorized to practice medicine or your healthcare profession.
PART 2: CONTINUED LEARNING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CLPD)
Complete at least 40 hours of approved continuing medical education and professional development activities over the previous 5 years since last certification in areas related to IME and medicolegal practice. These must include at least 24 hours of ACIME-approved courses as well as other relevant professional development training in your field. See currently offered ACIME-approved courses/educational activities.
PART 3: CONTINUED MEMBERSHIP OF COLLEGE AND INTEND TO PURSUE MAPP APPLICTAION.
Be a member of the college in good standing throughout the duration of each 5 year certification cycle and file an intent to pursue the Maintenance of Accreditation by practice pathway (MAPP©) application with required fees.
PART 4: DOCUMENTATION OF CONTINUED IME OR OTHER RELEVANT PRACTICE AND ASSESSMENT OF KNOWLEDGE, JUDGMENT AND SKILLS BY COLLEGE
Submit Five IME or medicolegal reports, at least two of them should be for impairment rating using the AMA guides. These reports would be reviewed by the College faculty and must meet the standards and be approved to conclude this part. The submission of this part also requires application for MAPP© Completion with required fees for formal review of these reports and any feedback if necessary.
